We are a small batch distillery, cocktail bar and restaurant located in Niles, Michigan.

“Letting only the good spirits in!” 

Have you heard the legend of St. Dunstan? 

Well, this story inspired our name of Iron Shoe Distillery.  There are many versions to this legend, but all agree that St. Dunstan, the patron saint of blacksmiths, tricked the devil by nailing red hot horseshoes to the devil’s cloven hooves.  After the excruciating ordeal, the devil agreed to never enter a building that is protected by the sign of a horseshoe.  A lucky charm was born and to this day, many people still hang horseshoes over their doors to keep the bad spirits out.  We are also proud to have this same protection guide our small batch spirit production!

We distill every spirit right here, so you can rest assured that every bottle is crafted to the highest standards from grain to glass.  And fortunately, Niles is surrounded by a plethora of farms, so we do not have to look far to find locally grown grain. 

Here at Iron Shoe Distillery we are proud to be a family-owned and operated business.  We believe in serving our own family good food and that’s what we offer to you, all made from scratch.  

You might ask what makes our burgers so good?  We use naturally raised angus beef that is antibiotic and hormone free, fed a vegetarian diet and from family-owned farms.  Superior beef makes a superior burger. If burgers aren’t your thing, don’t worry!  We also have tasty vegan and vegetarian options. Our restaurant is family-friendly with a kids menu, games for little ones to play, and we make some awesome milkshakes.

SPIRITS

Homegrown cocktails! We distill every spirit right here, all from local grain grown within 10 miles of the distillery. You can rest assured that every bottle is crafted to the highest standards. We take pride in taking the time to make every batch from scratch. We are not focused on quantity, but rather quality. That is why some spirits are only available in limited quantities. We believe that it is more important to take our time and make sure our spirits are made to our liking, rather than trying to manufacture as much as we can, as quickly as we can. With that said, we use the best grains and sugars that we can source, and all of the grain we use in our spirits is from local farms right here in Niles, Michigan. The ability to control the process from seed selection, growing, milling, mashing and distillation is a unique quality that we can bring to our spirts, coupled with barrels made from Michigan-grown white oak, our small batch whiskeys are a pure Michigan spirit. We hope you like them all as much as we do and hope you see you in our tasting room!

• VODKA: made from sweet corn. Sweet, smooth and soft on the pallet. Perfect for cocktails.

• WHITE RUM: not your typical white rum.  Full bodied, Caribbean style rum.

• AMBER RUM: a sipping rum. Aged in oak and meant to be enjoyed on its own.

• LIMONCELLO: an Italian liqueur made from hand-zested lemons.

• HUCKLEBERRY MOONSHINE: A huckleberry-infused moonshine perfect for sipping, on the rocks or mixing into your favorite cocktail.

• ORANGECELLO: an Italian liqueur made from hand-zested oranges.

• WHISKEYS:  a rotating selection of rye, bourbons and specialty grain whiskeys.  All single barrel, all small batch.  Don’t miss a bottle release as it might be your only opportunity to get that whiskey!

• BOURBON CREME LIQUEUR: a bourbon cream liqueur that is perfect on its own, in your coffee, in a cocktail, milkshake….the list goes on and on! 

Come visit us in our tasting room, as we have infused spirits “On Tap” that change every week. Previous flavors have included bacon vodka, pear vodka, chocolate blackberry rum, strawberry banana rum, coconut rum…. best way to sample a variety of our spirits is with a six shot flight!

PRIVATE EVENTS + CATERING

From a bridal shower to a rehearsal dinner to a corporate holiday party, let us host your event in our private dining room!

Private dining events can be served as a family-style buffet or served individually.

THE TWO HORSE SALOON: COCKTAIL WAGON

We bring craft cocktails, professional bar services and a unique atmosphere to your event!

The Two Horse Saloon is a vintage 1980 horse trailer that has been professionally restored and converted into a rad beverage wagon servicing southwest Michigan. Her life of hauling horses was over, so we brought her back to life with a new purpose as a mobile cocktail bar, pouring a little bit of happiness in every glass!

The Two Horse Saloon is adaptable to small, intimate settings or larger scale events.  We take everything into account to ensure we deliver a fun, memorable and unique experience for everyone we serve.  We pull up, set-up, serve, clean up and pull away, allowing our clients to enjoy their evening with their guests.   

The beverage wagon is part of Iron Shoe Distillery; therefore, we provide our clients with discounted prices on our spirits that we serve, but the Two Horse Saloon is not limited to serving just alcohol.  The Two Horse Saloon caters any type of event and can serve gourmet mock-tails, lemonade, sodas, and can even double as a dessert bar!
